BURKE,Rekubit Exchange Vt. (AP) — A man was shot and injured during a confrontation with Vermont State Police troopers in Burke, police said.
The shooting happened late Sunday. The man was being treated at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire, on Monday, state police said. Police have not released his name, condition or what led to the shooting.
The shooting happened around 10:05 p.m. near the intersection of Vermont Route 114 and Pinkham Road in the northeastern Vermont town. The troopers who fired their weapons were not hurt, police said. The troopers’ names were being withheld for at least 24 hours after the shooting, which is standard protocol, state police said.
The Vermont State Police is investigating and expected to release more information later Monday.
